PCI-7248
Description The PCI-7248: 48-Bit Digital I/O board is a high density parallel Digial I/O board for PCI computer in industrial applications. All 48 digital I/O channels can sink 24 mA for power control application. This board provides 2 identical chips that emulate industry standard 8255 Programmable Peripheral Interface (PPI). Each PPI offers 3 ports: PA, PB, and PC. PC is subdivided into 2 nibble-wide (4-bit) ports. Each channel has an individual connector with OPTO-22 pin assignment. It is very essential to use isolated input to prevent ground loop problems. The PCI-7248 uses a SAIC PCI controller interface with the PCI bus. The ASIC fully implements the PCI local bus specification Rev 2.0. All bus relative configuration, such as base memory address and interrupt assignment, are automatically controlled by software. No need for any user interaction and pre-study of the configuration. This removes the burden of searching for a conflict-free configuation, which can be very time consuming and difficult in combination with other bus standards. PCI-7248 has a programmable timer counter
that can generate periodic interrupts to the host processor. The timer/counter chipset is
82C54, which includes 3 16-bit counter,at 2MHz clock input. One counter is used as an
event counter for counting events coming from input channels. The remaining two are
cascaded together making a 32-bit timer, which can control the rate of interrupt
generation. Features
